A Salute to Frenchie

The IESALC says goodbye to a great supporter of our committee. Mr. Gerald DuCharme (Frenchie) has announced his retirement from the Tulsa Airport Authority, where he served as the Airport Electrical Supervisor. As of May 1st, 2007 Frenchie will officially retire from the airport, and also as Chairman of the IESALC Users Group. We will be sad to see him go, but we wish him and his family all the best as they enjoy retirement.

Thank you Frenchie for all your support and dedication....

We have gathered some comments left for him here. To have your comments listed here, please send them HERE...

Frenchie, Although my time with the IES has been short, I am sorry to see you go. I certainly understand that the time is right for you. I will certainly miss your social antics and hope you can visit future IES. Although I am sure we will fill your position, rest assured that you can never be replaced. I would very much like to keep in contact with you, so please don't hesitate to forward me your new e-mail, phone etc...You will be missed,

Robert Lamouche

Hey Frenchie, I’m going to miss my dancing partner!!!! Seriously it has been such a pleasure getting to know you and Deborah over the years. I can still remember David coming back from his first IES talking about some guy named Frenchie and all the fun you guys had. I know we will be seeing you in Chicago but please keep in touch so I can continue to enjoy your emails. Thanks again for all your work and support of IES and most of all your friendship. God Bless,

Dedra Rainey

Hey Frenchie, Well I guess I have to throw my two cents worth in too. You know how much I appreciated you taking over for me as User Group chairman when I retired from the airport. My only wish is that you will enjoy your retirement from the airport as much as I am mine. At least as much as I'm actually retired, (Dedra keeps me pretty busy ). At least I don't have to put up with all the politics anymore as you have said. I'm not saying any goodbyes since I know we will keep in touch. Glad to hear you may be able to come to Chicago. Talk to you later,

David Rainey

Frenchie- I’m jumping in a little late but wanted to add my best wishes for your retirement. I know I’ll miss you at the conferences you won’t be able to attend (note I said the ones you won’t be able to attend- I’m hoping you can get to the ones close to home). I appreciated the way you represented the “Users” and I know I learned a lot that I applied to the “designer” side. I’ll definitely miss the “fun side”- we still have Billy, Mac, Gayle, etc but many of the rest of us (me) are going to have to step it up- we need to maintain our reputation as a “definitely an entertaining group”.

Fred Loeffler

Ah - come on man! I was getting ready to do some Boudreaux dancing this year. Frenchie - I will miss you. It has been my pleasure to know you and to have worked with you. Thanks for the ride!

John Bogart

Frenchie: I am happy for you that you are going to retire, but am sad for all of us at IES/ALC that you will not be with us as frequently as you have been. I do think that via email, you could become the IES/ALC Entertainment Chairman for our meetings. There is no one that could do a better job than you....

Gayle Gorman Freeman

Sir Frenchie, It is with the deepest respect for you that I acknowledge your decision to pull the string..... As one of the old timers left in the IES ALC, I want to Thank You very much for the efforts you performed by leading the User Group from a small group to one of the Committee's largest and most supportive disciplines. A job well done !!! Your wit, laugh and smile will never be forgotten.....Your willingness to serve and your dedication to Aviation Lighting, the Tulsa Airport Authority and to the IES ALC will never be forgotten... Thank You

Billy (Schai)

ps: see ya' in Chicago...

Frenchie, Word has it that you are retiring. What are we going to do now! From my perspective, you (and Bill at times) were the instigators of all the fun stuff! I know that I only got a “taste” of your mischief, but you were hilarious in Williamsburg. What a character! Having read your retirement memo, I can certainly understand where you’re coming from. When it’s time to go, it’s sometimes like a “billboard” sign staring you in the face. But, it’s always a difficult decision. I know you will end up doing something you are good at and love…and having fun along the way. However, whatever you do, find time to make your way to the IES conferences because all of your friends love you (and don’t forget your costumes). We will miss you…Take care,

Rich (Richard) Green

Frenchie, It is very sad indeed to hear the IESALC #1 cheerleader will be hanging up his pom poms. I am sure we will all be humbled by the degree of reduced energy in the room upon your first missed conference. (Hopefully that will still be a ways off). I hope I still have that energy level when I walk off into the sunset. You are very knowledgeable yet very humble. You have my utmost respect. Enjoy it. You deserve it.

Dave Fox

Frenchie, Since I started attending the IES conferences few people have made such a lasting impression as you have on me. I appreciate all the time and effort you have given to the group. I wish you nothing but the best in your retirement and hope to continue to hear from and see you. You leave big shoes to fill and a social void that all will miss. I am glad I was fortunate to cross paths with you and will cherish the memories (some I can’t remember) of our times together.

CHEERS Frenchie have a great retired life.
 CYA in Chicago I hope.

Mike Shaw
