Our Mission

To study the application of light and lighting to spaces and functions involved in the operation of aircraft and spacecraft.

Who are We?

We are a committee formed under the Illuminating Engineering Society.

The committee was started on October 21, 1929. We are a non-profit organization comprised of members from all sources of general aviation lighting specialists, including engineers, manufacturers, designers, contractors, airport authorities, federal authorities (FAA & Transport Canada), US & Canadian military and general aviation from North America and around the world. We are a non-commercial technical committee.

Upcoming Spring Meeting (Register and More Information Here)

The Spring Meeting also serves as our Government Contacts Subcommittee meeting. In April 2024, we will gather at the FAA headquarters for a half-day of presentations by representatives from different groups within the FAA, along with other regulatory and defense agencies, for updates on their work.

Next Fall Meeting (Registration Opens Spring 2024)

The Fall Meeting is a fantastic opportunity to network with more than 300 of the aviation lighting industry’s best electricians, engineers, and manufacturers. With presentations, panels, and discussions across a diverse cross-section of industry topics, the Fall Meeting is a valuable time for industry collaboration. We dedicate a few hours every year as a day show with opportunities to meet face-to-face with the more than 30 manufacturers and vendors typically in attendance. See last year’s agenda for a guide to a typical Fall Meeting.
